There is silence that exists in the absence of sound, the silence that emerges in a one sided duet, and the desired silence that makes itself known amid constant vibrations. “…and I will love the silence…” is an exploration of these ideas for English horn and violoncello. The title itself is taken from the poem Savage Beauty by Edna St. Vincent Millay. The work was commissioned by and dedicated to my good friend and extraordinary musician, oboist Keri McCarthy.
