Joker's Wild

Joker’s Wild was completed in the winter of 2005 for the Cameradschaft Duo. The combination of trumpet and percussion was one that intrigued from the first time I heard it. To my surprise I discovered there were quite a few percussion-trumpet duos throughout the country, however I could find no pieces that featured the instrumental combination in any orchestra combination.
This piece is meant to show off all the capabilities of the two instruments. At times the music is bombastic and rhythmic, other times slow and passionate. Overall I wanted to create a piece that would be fun and exciting to watch, hear and play.
