Groundhog Fantasy

Groundhog Fantasy was written for my dear friend and mandolin player for Prairie Home Companion, Richard Kriehn. It’s based off the Appalachian folk song Groundhog which I first heard performed by Butch Baldassari, mandolin and David Schnaufer. While quick paced and toccata like the fantasy slowly progresses through various ideas until it finally reveals the original tune.
