In 2014 I was granted tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Composition, Theory, and Music Technology. At this same time, I began a new role in the School of Music as the Associate Director and Graduate Coordinator. My course load was typically some variety of Theory I-IV, graduate theory, Aural Skills, Music Technology, and a general education course called Introduction to Fine Arts.

Starting in 2014, while I continued my creative activity in composition, I also became interested in research around leadership education and its role in the arts. This led to participation in several programs including a 10-day workshop at Harvard’s Kennedy Center and several programs at the Kansas Leadership Center where I have also served as a facilitator. In the last year, I have given workshops and presentations at International Leadership Conferences, Universities, and other organizations.

In 2019 I became Director of the School of Music at Wichita State. In this role I oversee ~35 faculty, 240 majors, and a budget of approximately 3 Million Dollars. This role, along with my role as Faculty Senate President-Elect, has significantly decreased the amount of time I have to compose. However I have tried to make sure that my calendar of performances and engagement with the profession has stayed steady.
